Car Shampoos

Car wash shampoos clean paint without scratching it. Mix them with water, wash the car, rinse it off, and you are done. If you skip this step, when cleaning your car, dirt will build up and bird mess will eat through the clear coat because tree sap and road salt bond to the surface and will not shift.

Some people use dish soap, but it is not the same thing (and we do not recommend it). Dish soap strips wax, removes sealant, dries out the paint. Your car will look clean for half a day, then dirt sticks worse than before because there is zero protection left. Car shampoo is usually pH-neutral or mildly alkaline[EW1.1]. Acidic shampoos also exist. They are used for maintaining ceramic coatings and removing light water spots (mineral deposits from hard water).
