  Coating for cars is a liquid polymer that you apply to paint. It bonds to the clear coat and creates a hard, protective layer. It makes the car easier to clean, adds gloss, protects against UV radiation and light scratches. Silicon dioxide bonds to paint at a molecular level, and hardens into a semi-permanent layer. It lasts from 1 to 5 years, depending on the type of coating.
